Screenings

Assata Shakur, aka Joanne Chesimard, the firebrand revolutionary Black Panther, in 1977, was falsely convicted and sentenced to life in a widely publicized case involving a 1973 shootout on the N.J. Turnpike, which resulted in the deaths of a Panther and a New Jersey State Trooper.
In 2006, Justin, a NY filmmaker, and Asha, a student journalist, cross paths at a Harlem street festival, and their passions soon ignite. They discover by chance that both are intensely caught up in the controversial story of Assata.
While serving the 3rd year of her life sentence, in 1979, Assata effected a daring escape from a maximum security prison in New Jersey. After a number of years in hiding, in 1984, she emerged in Cuba, where she lives to this day.
Her life as a fugitive political exile, a fighter for freedom and social justice, has attracted a worldwide following.

Time: February 20, 2010 from 6pm to 7pm
Location: Miami, Florida’s Athalie Range Park
Organized By: Black is Back Coalition

Event Description:
Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations Calls on the African community to Defend the People of Haiti
Washington, DC – February 9, 2010 – The Black is Back Coalition for
Social Justice, Peace, and Reparations has announced a National Rally
& March to Defend Haiti scheduled for February 20, 2010 beginning at
10:00AM in Miami, Florida’s Athalie Range Park and ending at the U.S.
Immigration & Naturalization Center.
The Rally and March are to protest the United States’, Canada’s and
Europe’s response to the 7.0 earthquake that on January 12th destroyed
Haiti’s capital of Port-au-Prince killing hundreds of thousands and
leaving millions homeless. The mobilization is to also protest their
long-standing racist, oppressive and subversive foreign policy
initiatives as it pertains to the first African Republic in the
Western Hemisphere.
Since January 12th the imperial powers have intensified the
militarization of Haiti under the guise of bringing “order” and a
“sense of security” to Haiti’s capital while the provision of food and
medical care and attention have been given secondary attention. The
underdevelopment of Haiti, the result of French colonialism and U.S.
military intervention over the last 200 plus years, will only be
exacerbated by this over 10,000 person strong troop surge.
The Black is Back Coalition will, therefore, call for the immediate
removal of all foreign military troops in Haiti including those from
the United States, Canada, Europe and the combined imperial forces of
the United Nations and an end to the military occupation there so that
the people of Haiti can be free to govern the affairs of their
country.
The Black is Back Coalition also recognizes that the imperial powers
have, since 1804, mercilessly sought to punish the people of Haiti and
destroy their liberation movement because they led the first
successful workers’ revolution in the world. To redress decades of
hostile foreign policy initiatives by the imperial centers of the
globe and so that Haiti can rebuild, the Black is Back Coalition will
also demand:
1. The return of President Jean Bertrand Aristide from forced exile in
South Africa and the restoration of democracy in Haiti.
2. That Reparations be made to Haiti by France and the United States
for slavery and the looting of the Haitian national treasury in 1934.
3. The repudiation of the Wet Foot/Dry Foot Policy that unfairly
discriminates against Africans from Haiti and the establishment of an
open door policy that allows Africans from Haiti to enter the United
States, and any other country, unfettered.
4. An automatic removal of the $80 Temporary Protective Status (TPS)
fee that is associated with the application for this status.
5. The immediate removal of trade, aide and loan restrictions by the
World Bank and other international financial institutions. And that
Haiti’s so-called debts to these institutions are forgiven.
6. The immediate removal of maritime restrictions that keep
neighboring countries of CARICOM and Latin America from providing
assistance to Haiti.
The Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations
– a group made up of mostly U.S. based black organizations – is
calling on the African community to take up our responsibility to
defend and uplift our sisters and brothers in Haiti.
Forward to Miami!

Black Histroy: I can do all things through my Afrikan nation which strengtheneth me.

Unity:

Is defined as the state of being undivided or unbroken completeness or totality with nothing wanting and this is what the African People of Love strive for UNITY!  We strive for an Undivided or Unbroken relationship with one another as people of Afrikan Descent.  When we say Afrikaans, “We mean all Afrikan beings everywhere”, global Afrika and the Diaspora.  We seek the lost sheep of Afrika, I don’t care where my Afrikan family may be we desire to Unite as One people, to stop the division —all that are of an African Descent and willing to repent of their wrongs towards their Afrikan Nation.

My people we are lost sheep: our shepherds have caused us to go astray, they have turned us away from one another: we have gone from nation to nation, we have forgotten our resting place. We as Afrikaans are scattered sheep; the lions (Europeans and Asian) have driven us away (from the love of one another): first the king of Assyria hath devoured us; and last this Obama President of Babylon (America) hath broken our bones.

We have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy people; for you do not forget our commandments (to love one another as our real spiritual leaders love us).

All of us like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to our own way; and our turning away from one another hath laid on us the iniquity of us all.

When I look at the multitudes, I am moved with compassion for them, because they fainted, and are scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

I come for the lost sheep of the house of Afrika.

I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Afrika.

For the Son of Afrika is come to save that which was lost.

Now think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and go into the mountains, and seek that which is gone astray?  And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoices more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.  What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he laid it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he called together his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

Now I tell you, that likewise joy shall be in Afrika over one Afrikan that repented, more than over ninety and nine just Afrikaans, which need no repentance.  For were you not as sheep going astray at one time in your life; but are now returned unto the love of your people who are the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought Afrika: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered. For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house (those of Afrikan descent) have I found their wickedness, saith the Nation of Afrika.  Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the European mindset: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the Nation of Afrika.  And I have seen folly in the prophets of America; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people of Afrikan descent to err.  I have seen also in the prophets of Afrika a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

Therefore thus say the People of Afrika concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Afrika is profaneness gone forth into all the land.  His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.  Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.  Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.  The diseased have they not strengthened, neither have they healed that which was sick, neither have they bound up that which was broken, neither have they brought again that which was driven away, neither have they sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have they ruled them.  And we are scattered, because there is no shepherd: and we become meat to all the beasts (leaders) of the field (world), when we are scattered.

Now that lost sheep, that Blackman or Black woman who seeks the acceptance of others rather than the acceptance of their own people, is the one we desire to find.

We have the quality of being united into one. Unity can denote a combining of all the parts, elements and individuals into an effective whole. It is applicable to people and objects forming whole notions of any concept. It implies oneness when there is a certain usual division.  So, let us seek the lost sheep of Afrika so that we the people may be fitted frame together.  I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.

Behold, I, even I, will both search for my people, the lost sheep of Afrika, and seek them out. As a shepherd seek out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out the sheep of Afrika, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.

Feed the flock of the slaughter with the knowledge of who they are.  For my people perish for lack of knowledge;

Those of us who are awaken Save our lost Brothers and Sisters whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed they be; for I am rich: and their own shepherds pity them not.

The last day is coming and is here:  The time will come when the horn will blow and all will meet for the Exodus and we will no more pity the evil Shepherds of the land,: but, lo, we will deliver the men every one into his neighbor’s hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand we will not deliver them.
